PAST EMPLOYMENT
One of Jackson's jobs as a struggling actor in New Your was a a doorman as the popular Manhattan Plaza subsidized apartments, home of hundreds of actors and artists, including Giancarlo Esposito, who co-stared with Jackson in Amos & Andrew (1993).
THE MUSICIAN
Accomplished at playing brass instruments (french horn, trumpet) in school symphony orchestras from grade 3 to grade 12. Sam always learns to play any instrument his character is required to play - be it the piano, blues guitar or violin. This dedication adds realism to his characters and allows for close up shots. Graduated from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia in 1972.

Starring Samuel L. Jackson, Christina Ricci, and Justin Timberlake and Directed by Craig Brewer. Black Snake Moan opens on March 2nd.There are many things that can be said about my friend, Samuel L. Jackson. But one of the best illustrations of his character is a little story of what happened during he filming of this movie.

You see, I'm truly blessed in that, Mr. Jackson will occasionally take my calls. We have quick little conversations here and there. We've been known to make each other laugh with me laughing because he is genuinely funny and with Sam laughing at me because I think I'm the goofiest person he knows.

I've told you that, to tell you this; I called Sam one day frantic. I must have called 15 times. Sometimes the circuits were busy. Other times I would get a fast busy. He was filming a little movie called "Black Snake Moan", but a "little" storm called Katrina rolled through town. Being in Tennessee, I was fairly certain he was okay, but until I heard from him, I was not going to be able to sleep.

1408 Interview (2007)

Dimenision Films graciously made it possible for me to come down to Los Angeles and participate in the Junket for 1408.

I wish I could tell you that I spent time with The Man, but alas, not this trip. What follows is the big press conference after the movie - which is scary, by the way.

On the panel were The Man (Samuel L. Jackson for those who don't know and should), John Cusack, Mary McCormack, director Mikael Hastrom and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Beforewarned, there were a few bad words uttered during the interview.

QUESTION: JOHN AND SAMUEL, SINCE WE READ SO MUCH ABOUT OVERSEAS GROSSES, 60% OF A MOVIE NOW IS MORE THAN THE UNITED STATES. DOES THAT INFLUENCE HOW YOU PICK A ROLE, WHAT KIND OF PROJECTS YOU CHOOSE? DO YOU THINK OF THINGS THAT ARE NOT JUST FOR AMERICA BUT THE WORLD OUTSIDE?

JC: I just thought it would be cool to be in a poster with Sam Jackson.
